Resident & family reviews
4.3 · 18 reviewsGreat location for visiting my relatives. Staff is very friendly and greeting. Staff is always willing to help out with my family needs.
My mother-in-law lived at LBJ Medical Center (now called Avir at Johnson City) for 8 months. In full transparency, we were doubtful, as she was quite picky about the “aesthetics” of where she lived but when her dementia escalated, we wanted her in Johnson City, where we live, to be able to have easier access to her than where she was living in Fredericksburg. Let me say this…the “fancy” place she lived before was lipstick on a pig. While LBJ may be an older facility, it is ALWAYS clean. SHE was always clean and taken care of and the staff GENUINELY loved her, even when she had moments of name…

SHE was always clean and taken care of and the staff GENUINELY loved her, even when she had moments of name calling and giving orders. I especially want to give a shout out to the Business Office Mgr, Christina Owens, as well as CNA Jen Ingle, who shared sweet stories with me after we lost her. She would gently caress my mother-in-laws hair when she was agitated to help calm her, and a wonderful LVN, Gloria Mesa, who affectionately called her Mama when helping her. I would not hesitate to have another one of my loved ones live there. We will be forever grateful for their care.
My brother was told he would never walk again, and yet, 8 months after he came here, he started walking with a walker, due to the unfailing support, encouragement, and expertise of the Physical Therapy staff here at LBJ. I am amazed at what they’ve done and how excited he is at his progress! Amy Normand

They are so good
How is it possible that a hospital that looks so beautiful allows people with bad hearts? There they need a staff with empathy with others. This hospital is a complication of physical and emotional abuse of two elderly people. The son only took the father there because the stepmother did not want it because she was Hispanic. They are legally married. Why do they allow a son to lock up his father there without consent and sedate him against his will?
The folks working here are amazing, kind and caring. We're so grateful to have a facility that takes care of our loved ones and knows them personally. This facility is home-town caring at it's finest.
Absolute worst nursing facility in Texas. There is NO caring or compassion, food is horrible and never the right temperature. There are very few activities provided. There is a revolving door for nursing care that is mostly agency nurses… no continuity of care. Staffing ratios are always inadequate except when State inspector present. Communication with families is nonexistent. Resident Right violations are numerous. VERY disrespectful to residents and family members. Administration (to include corporate representatives) do not care about the state laws governing the industry. The telephone at the facility is rarely answered; corporate office is answered by answering machine and return calls are never made. If you care about your loved one, PUT THEM ELSEWHERE!
My mother has been a resident of LBJ Medical Center for a year now. Our family is very grateful for the love and care she receives from the staff. It has been such a comfort knowing that she feels safe and supported. We feel very blessed that she is happy and thriving in their care.
