Worst nursing home experience — serious safety concerns My mother has been a resident at Beacon Harbor for approximately nine months, and unfortunately, we have experienced ongoing problems with staffing, maintenance, communication, and overall responsiveness. Worst nursing home experience — serious safety concerns My mother has been a resident at Beacon Harbor for approximately nine months, and unfortunately, we have experienced ongoing problems with staffing, maintenance, communication, and overall responsiveness. Most recently, my mother’s toilet has been out of order and leaking water for more than 72 hours. I have reported the problem and filed complaints, yet it still has not been properly repaired. I was informed that both members of the maintenance staff had quit at the same time. While I understand that staffing problems can occur, that does not excuse allowing a resident to remain in a room with a leaking toilet for more than three days. Water on a restroom floor creates an obvious slip-and-fall hazard, particularly for elderly residents. I even offered to pay for or arrange for a qualified third-party professional to repair the leak. I was told by the director on duty that I could not bring in an outside contractor. If the facility’s maintenance employees are unavailable and families are prohibited from obtaining outside assistance, then the facility should have immediately arranged for a qualified third party to make the necessary repair. What was even more concerning was that when I spoke with the director on duty, she told me she had no idea this issue was occurring. A serious maintenance and resident-safety problem had apparently existed for more than 72 hours without the director being aware of it. The director’s attitude toward me was also extremely rude and dismissive. Families raising legitimate concerns about the health and safety of their loved ones should be treated professionally and respectfully—not as though they are an inconvenience. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated experience. During the nine months my mother has lived at Beacon Harbor, I have repeatedly noticed staffing issues and constant turnover. Employees frequently appear unhappy, and I continually see new staff members throughout the facility. My concern is ultimately very simple: resident safety. A nursing facility has a responsibility to provide residents with a safe and sanitary living environment and to respond promptly when conditions could place a resident at risk. A leaking, unusable toilet should not remain unresolved for more than 72 hours. Staffing shortages are an operational problem for the facility to solve—they should not become a safety problem for the residents. I expect Beacon Harbor management to address this situation immediately and explain what corrective measures will be taken to ensure residents are not placed in this position again.

Nathan recently provided an outstanding tour of Beacon Harbor for a dear friend of ours. He was gracious, patient, and extraordinarily thorough, taking the time to answer all of their questions clearly and ensure that nothing felt rushed. That kind of attentiveness and genuine concern makes an enormous difference when someone is evaluating care options. While on the tour, we were impressed with how clean, open, and bright the facility was. Staff members were happily buzzing around attending to their patients, patients were all moving around and engaged with something. The whole place felt…

While on the tour, we were impressed with how clean, open, and bright the facility was. Staff members were happily buzzing around attending to their patients, patients were all moving around and engaged with something. The whole place felt alive and vibrant. We are grateful to Nathan and the Beacon Harbor team for the warmth, professionalism, and hospitality they showed throughout the visit. We will recommend Beacon Harbor to other people based on what we saw, heard, and experienced with their team.

The staff especially at night is verbally abusive. They are physically negligent. There is no physical therapy. They sit you in a wheel chair and leave you there without training or any way of getting up or out and getting back in bed. They wait for shift change and new people are not legally able to help you back in bed is what I was told repeatedly. The director was nowhere to be found when he said he would come yo my room. Another young nurse from another facility just helping went with my husband to go look allover the building for him but the director had left. The call buttons are a joke. They ignore them and yell if you dont stop ringing for help. They yell in your face because they know that you're helpless. They think we are abandoned and if you get visitors the staff pretend until the visitors leave and the show is over. When I was dying, the nurse gave me a medicine that he would not say what it was. He gave me an old oxygen tank that didnt work and told me to wait a day. My lungs were filling with fluids. They knew I had just left the hospital recovering from pneumonia. I begged them to let me call 911. I could hardly function. 1 sweet young girl helped during my panic. She dialed the phone and held it fir me because I was to weak and I could barely speak. The EMTs were in shock at me color and vitals. The facility is the worst. At night they turn up the main TV so that they drown out the cries for help. This place is waiting for patients to die. Please do not let your loved ones stay here. Believe them and listen to them. People here live in fear. They are trapped. I was 45 and almost died twice in the hospital and then almost my final time at this facility. Bad people are everywhere. Most Hospital staff arent much better if you're in critical condition, in a coma or just too much trouble. I almost died from bed sores if the pneumonia was not going kill me. Soeak for your loved ones. Please check on them frequently if you truly care. Also, this facility is extremely dirty. The equipment is there are just from people who have died and donated. A large number of machines do not work. Food is terrible. They add to the insurance bill for thing never received. At least I never did. Its even worse then some floors at the hospital and mind you, they have some of the sane staff so that explained a lot about their practices. If I could give negative infinity stars I would.

This was a pleasant surprise! The entire staff was great! Always accommodating and smiling, from the house keeping crew to the very knowledgeable OT Marcelle, Speech Therapist, Gracie, Medical Nurse, Janice, Nurse Vince, nurse's assistant, Winnie (THE best!), Ramon, Rose, House keeping, Ethan! I can't thank these people enough! I am so glad we chose Beacon Harbor! They accomplished so many things while Mom, Laverne, was admitted. I would definitely use this facility again. I cannot sing their praises enough! It made a bad situation almost pleasant! Thanks to the entire Rehab staff!

Make sure when you’re trying to get your loved one in a supposedly good SNF that you’re on your best behavior and not stressed to the edge because you’ll be denied. Strange isn’t it how they are supposed to be passionate and compassionate about their job, however, if someone calls and is a little impatient trying to find out if their loved one will be approved and has a bipolar day after being a POA for a man I’ve known for 50+ years, divorced 30, took him from a nursing home in 2008 after he suffered a stroke on each side of his brain at the at of 51, took care of him for 14 years, moved him to an ALF in 2021 where he could walk with a walker, had an apt of his own,had a critical condition episode occurred Nov. 1, 2025 which changed both of our lives. He was sedated & ventilated 8 days, laid in bed 25 days w/o water, PT, very little care, placed on feeding peg. Found acute rehab to get him back to good health. Transferred to a SNF/Rehab facility for Part A Medicare Rehab on 12/12/25. They ignored my POA and did whatever, whenever, they wanted to with him without my permission, therefore I had issues with that and started making complaints. OH AND AFTER ALL THAT THEY'RE STATING HE ALLEGEDLY SWUNG AT A NURSE, HOWEVER THERE IS NO DOCUMENTATION FROM THE NURSE WHAT HAPPENED…NOW IF I WERE THE DON OR ADMINISTRATOR THAT’D BE THE 1st QUESTION I’D ASK…WHAT HAPPENED?THEY ARE DOING EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO KEEP US FROM GETTING IN ANYWHERE. AND ALL I’M LOOKING FOR IS SOMEWHERE FOR HIM TO BE HAPPY, HAVE SOMEONE TO CONVERSE WITH, NOT BE LONELY, DEPRESSED, BORED, WELL TAKEN CARE OF, DOTED ON AND HE GETS DENIED BECAUSE I HAD A HAIR OUT OF PLACE, I MUST'VE HAD A SMUDGE IN MY MAKEUP AND WRINKLE IN MY CLOTHES ALL OVER THE TELEPHONE BECAUSE MY STRESS OF WANTING THIS AND CRYING AND YELLING FOR HELP BUT NOT BEING UNDERSTOOD THATS WHAT I WAS DOING DENIED A GOOD MAN BECAUSE OF ME AND MY ADVOCATING FOR HIM! YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DO ALL THE ABOVE FOR HIM, YOU’D NEVER HEAR A PEEP OUT OF ME AND ME, HOPEFULLY WOULD SEE MY EX HUSBAND HAPPY FOR A CHANGE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF WHEN HE LIVED WITH ME AND I TOOK CARE OF HIM FOR 14 YEARS AND MY HEALTH ISSUES WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO DO THAT ANY LONGER! THANK YOU BY THE WAY! IT’S PROBABLY DIVINE INTERVENTION AND A GOD SEND YOU DENIED HIM!!

My wife has been here for 4 months, and Beacon Harbor is the best rehab and nursing facility out there. It really, really is. They take absolutely great care of her. I love Bruce, Kolton, Femina, so many CNAs and nurses. They take such great care of my wife. Truly, the therapy here is the best there is. And the nurses and CNAs show such care and compassion. Of course I wish she weren't in a rehab facility at all, but since she has to be, there is no place in the world I'd rather her be than Beacon Harbor.

I wouldn't recommend no one to this place.. They need to find some better help here. Some of the nurses treat the patients like he'll, Not only my love one but others in the place, seen it with my own eyes. If the patient is not there to see what's going on then you don't know how their being treated. When I called back to talk to the head administrator and left message for them to call me back and I never heard back from him.. GO FIGURE !!!
