these people are the literal worst with how they tried to put seniors out on the street. if any living facility comes back at this address, RUN.

Chineza was the original person that my family contacted. We visited the facility and made a decision to have our love one move in based on the terms Chineza presented. Two weeks before the end of our agreement a new manager by the name of Amber advised us that there was an increase in the monthly cost. We advised Amber that the charges for the month had already been paid per the agreement. We stated that we had two weeks remaining and that we will move our love one at the end of the month. Amber wanted us to move our love one before the end of the month. We told Amber that we paid for the full month. This must not have set well with Amber therefore two days later she dropped our love one at the emergency room and left them there alone. We were contacted to tell us where our love one was left. They didn't call the ambulance, they just drove them in their private vehicle which that alone should be illegal. After our love one was discharged from the emergency room later that evening no one at Brinkley Haven would answer the phone for our love one to get back to her room for the night therefore we had to go to a hotel. The following day still no answer from Brinkley Haven therefore we had to find a new facility. Our love one didn't have their clothes and medication. Amber and the management team decided our love one was not welcome at Brinkley so they removed them by dropping them off at the emergency room so they would no longer have to care for them. The biggest concern is there is no accountability. Brinkley Haven doesn't have a state license. Our family lost two weeks of the cost. This entire ordeal was very disappointing and infuriating.

I’m leaving a 3 out of 5 review to be fair, although this experience was very disappointing for my family. My first and longest conversation was with Chineza. We spoke for nearly an hour about placing my mother in the home, and my sister was also present for that initial visit and conversation. During that discussion, Chineza clearly explained that there would be a live in staff member staying in the third bedroom around the clock. She also stated she was willing to meet our price range and specifically said she wanted my mom to have her own room. In that same detailed conversation, Chineza…

In that same detailed conversation, Chineza mentioned that the beds currently in the room could be removed so my mom could bring and place her own furniture there. We also discussed the activities offered, outings for residents, and even that my mom could bake with supervision alongside the live in employee. Based on that conversation, we felt comfortable enough to move forward. When my sister later returned to the home, she brought my mom so she could see the space for herself, and Chineza’s business partner, Amber, was also present at that time. However, after that visit my sister was pushed to work with Amber, whose pricing, living arrangement, and overall terms did not align with the original conversation we had with Chineza. Having to pivot AFTER we had already adjusted schedules so my mom could come view the home felt very insensitive. It also put us in the difficult position of having to explain to my mom why what we told her was no longer accurate even though we were simply relaying what had been promised to us. Getting a parent comfortable with moving into a care home is already an emotional process. We had worked very hard within my mom’s mental capacity to help her feel safe and agree to this location. Suddenly having to reverse course and start that process again was incredibly difficult. The emotional turmoil and stress this placed on my sister and I cannot be overstated. We truly felt like we had found a gem in a not so esthetically pleasing neighborhood a home that seemed caring and aligned with what my mom needed. Instead, the situation turned into a very disappointing and emotionally taxing curveball that, based on that experience alone, could easily justify a one star review. However, I’m not here to review based solely on emotions I’m reviewing based on facts. The home itself is nice. Amber did offer to send my sister information about other facilities, which I appreciate. My biggest concern was communication and accountability. When I spoke with Chineza afterward to express my disappointment, she stated that my mom would have had a roommate in the room we discussed. That was never part of our original conversation. In fact, she specifically said she wanted my mom to have her own room and even discussed removing the extra beds so my mom’s furniture could go in. In addition they mentioned the added cost of care of bringing someone there when it was INTIALLY stated it this unit would have someone there the entire time. Out of the blue concerns of my mom state which again was explained in detail in the initial meeting. Though we were transparent Chineza could not do the same. Had Chineza simply told us that after speaking with her business partner the arrangement they originally discussed could not be honored, and apologized for the change in direction, it would have gone a long way. Instead, when confronted, the conversation felt deflected and the details of the original discussion were changed as if we missed heard. Even after meeting with her I called Chineza to follow up in certain things discussed. Because the home itself appears nice and I want to be fair, I’m leaving a 3 star review. But the experience with communication and follow through is something future families should be aware of.
