This place has been amazing for my father. they accommodate him very well. He loves it there due to the staff being amazing people. I have nothing but love and respect for this great place for my father.
I lived here for about a year and a half when it was Brookdale Senior Living, and it was truly a wonderful place to call home. The residents were warm and welcoming, the staff was always caring, friendly, and helpful, and there was a real sense of community. I have many fond memories of my time there and would highly recommend Pegasus Preserve of Memorial City to anyone looking for a comfortable and supportive senior living community.
As a Broker with Oakington Realty, I work with a lot of families going through transitions and looking at senior living options, so I always appreciate seeing communities that genuinely care. I’ve attended several networking events at Pegasus Preserve of Memorial City (formerly Brookdale Memorial City) and also toured the property, and every experience has been great. The community is beautiful, clean, welcoming, and the staff and residents have always been friendly and engaging. You can tell they take pride in what they do and the environment they’ve created for residents and families.
Bed bug infestation! Yes you heard that correctly. Bed bugs. I am writing to formally report serious concerns regarding a bed bug infestation and the lack of appropriate response and care for residents at your facility. Over a period of time, residents have experienced repeated bed bug exposure, resulting in visible bites, discomfort, and distress. Despite notifying staff, the response has been delayed, inconsistent, and insufficient to properly resolve the issue. Bed bugs are not only a hygiene concern but a health and safety risk, particularly for elderly residents who may have compromised immune systems or limited ability to advocate for themselves. Key concerns include: *Delayed or inadequate pest control measures, allowing the infestation to persist *Failure to properly isolate or treat affected rooms and belongings *Lack of communication with residents and families about the scope of the issue *Insufficient monitoring of affected residents, including failure to ensure their comfort and well-being *Emotional and physical distress caused by ongoing exposure This situation reflects a failure to maintain safe and sanitary living conditions, which is a fundamental obligation for any senior living provider. Residents deserve to live in a clean, secure environment free from preventable hazards. Requested Immediate Actions: I am requesting the following actions be taken without delay: *Engage a licensed, professional pest control service to fully assess and eradicate the infestation *Provide clear communication to residents and families regarding the issue and remediation plan *Implement preventative protocols to avoid recurrence *Ensure proper care, monitoring, and accommodations for affected residents *Conduct a facility-wide inspection to confirm the issue has been fully resolved If this matter is not addressed promptly and effectively, I am prepared to escalate the complaint to the appropriate regulatory authorities, including the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the Long-Term Care Ombudsman. I expect a written response outlining corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe.
My father was a resident here for several years. Maintenance requests for peeling paint in the bathtub went unaddressed for years. Plumbing smells too. Cleaning procedures were inadequate, and I got bedbug bites when I visited. After he died, we returned the keys within 18 days (before the end of the month) and were told that he was fully paid up. Then we were hit with surprise charges and a 'late fee'.
This is for independent living. If your love one need round the clock care, this facility does not provide it. My brother, after moving in was diagnosed with terminal cancer. They do have hospice, but every time we need hospice to come, it takes 1 hour for them to show up. He fell several times. So we decided to move him to a 24/7 facility for his safety. Brookdale won't wave the fee of 2 months penalty to break the contract. The staff is very nice. Josephine with home health is a gem. When she comes to care for my brother, she is super sweet, caring, gentle, patient. Nancy, the head of home health is very accommodating, but the service is expensive and not instant like a 24/7 facility.
Great place to live, lots of activities done by the community and always staying on top of everything. The employees / management do an amazing job at keeping this place clean and safe for residents to feel at home.
Brookdale Memorial is family. I have lived here for six years and it is HOME. Food is great. I feel very safe here. Location is perfect.
