Caraday of Quitman

My family entrusted this facility with the care of two people we loved, and after everything we experienced, I cannot recommend it now that the ownership has changed from Caraday to Quitman Wellness. During my grandmother’s stay, we repeatedly dealt with poor communication, inconsistent staffing, delays in care, and a lack of urgency when serious concerns were raised. In our experience, 60+ minute response times for call buttons is standard 24/7. As her health declined and she entered hospice, our family often felt like we had to constantly advocate just to ensure her basic needs were being met. No family should have to wonder whether their loved one is receiving timely care or whether concerns are being taken seriously. After we complained to the State, we felt the administration retaliated against our family instead of addressing the concerns that were raised. I understand that healthcare is difficult and that many individual nurses and CNAs genuinely cared. We are grateful to those employees who treated our family with compassion. Unfortunately, the overall management and administration, consistency of care, and communication did not meet the standard we expected for people at the end of their lives. Every resident in this facility deserves better care than they are given here. Choosing a nursing home is one of the hardest decisions a family will ever make. I encourage anyone considering this facility to visit often, ask difficult questions (don’t expect to get a truthful answer from admin) advocate continuously for their loved one, and carefully evaluate whether this is the right place for your family. We moved my grandmothers sister after her passing to another facility with far better care than Quitman Wellness.
