My father was diagnosed in late May 2025 with pancreatic cancer. From the initial acute event resulting in his hospitalization, he required special care in part because he lost his mobility due to surgery and prolonged hospitalization. Over the next few months, he required extensive physical therapy to regain his strength, and we hoped he would become strong enough to return home so we could continue to care for him there. However, with the aggressiveness of the cancer, his recovery was slow, and it became obvious that continuation of specialized care would be necessary. That specialized care had to come in the form of caretakers who were available 24/7 to tend to his needs. After being released from the hospital, we worked with two different care providers who were helpful and supportive during that stage of his journey. Each played an important role in meeting his needs at the time, and we are grateful for their efforts. However, as his cancer progressed, his requirements became more complex, and we realized he needed a higher level of specialized care. At the same time, the long daily drives to those care providers and exhaustive emotional strain were taking a toll on our family. With these factors combined, we realized it was time to find a facility that could provide the necessary comprehensive care and be closer to home. We were very blessed to find Chime Meadows Assisted Living in Beasley, Texas, just four minutes from my mother's home. Chime Meadows is owned and operated by Phiona and Mathew Chime who will forever be in our hearts for the role they played in our lives. From the moment we walked through their doors at Chime Meadows, we felt an overwhelming sense of relief and gratitude. The home is beautiful and pristinely clean with sizeable comfortable rooms for each resident. The team welcomed us with warmth and compassion, immediately reassuring us that my father would be cared for with dignity and respect. Every caretaker we encountered was diligent, kind, gentle, and deeply committed to my father's well-being. They didn’t just provide care — they provided comfort, companionship, and a sense of home for him during an incredibly difficult time. What stood out most was their attention to detail and willingness to personalize everything for him. They created custom meals to suit his preferences and dietary needs, adjusted his sleep and activity schedule to match what made him most comfortable, and engaged him in ways that brought him so much joy and peace... such peace. They pampered him with love and held meaningful conversations with him about things that he loved to talk about. Communication with the family was exceptional as well. We were always informed, involved, and supported, which meant the world to us as a family navigating such a challenging journey. Phiona's, Mathew's, and their staff’s compassion extended beyond my father — they cared for us, too. Every visit began with open arms and genuine kindness making us feel like part of their family. In a season filled with uncertainty and heartache, Chime Meadows provided stability, comfort, and love. We will forever be grateful for the extraordinary care they gave my father and the grace they showed us throughout his final weeks.
