Columbus Oaks Assisted Living

I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the experience my friend and her family endured during the passing of her mother at this facility. According to the family, they received a voicemail asking them to call the nursing home but were never informed that their loved one had become unresponsive or had passed away. After returning multiple calls and receiving little to no communication, the family rushed to the facility only to arrive and find their loved one deceased, having reportedly been left unattended for an extended period of time. What is most heartbreaking is not just the lack of communication, but the apparent lack of compassion shown to the family during one of the most difficult moments of their lives. There were no condolences, no staff member available to provide support or guidance, and no acknowledgment of the grief the family was experiencing. Instead, discussions reportedly turned to billing and administrative matters. Families trust nursing homes to care not only for their loved ones, but also to treat them with dignity, respect, and compassion in their final moments. The experience described by this family reflects a serious failure in communication, empathy, and basic human decency. I sincerely hope management and corporate leadership review their policies, provide additional staff training, and ensure that no other family has to experience such a painful and traumatic situation during the loss of a loved one. Do NOT put your loved ones in this facility! My family recently experienced the loss of a loved one who was a resident at this facility. During what was already an incredibly difficult and emotional time, we were disappointed by the lack of compassion, empathy, and support shown to our family. We expected staff and management to treat grieving family members with dignity and understanding. Instead, our concerns were met with indifference, and we felt as though our loved one and our family were treated as an inconvenience rather than people going through a heartbreaking loss. Assisted living facilities are entrusted not only with caring for residents - which now based off recent events I question the care they gave, but also with supporting families during difficult transitions. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of those expectations. Based on how our family was treated following our loved one’s passing, I cannot recommend this facility.
