Resident & family reviews

This place loves to tell you they are “4 Star Rated” to justify why one/one’s family should trust their life to them. With many years of Medicare & Medicaid inspection experience plus hospital (the old JCAH), I know how some facilities gear up for these, but do little to nothing to maintain standards of care to pass these inspections. Highland falls short in so many ways except cleanliness; no smells of urine. Highland basically provides food, shelter, and some continuity of care. Departmental communication seems lacking. As stated in a previous review there are too many negatives. Management & administration-in general, character is questionable. Seems to use “bait&switch” tactics to lure prospective clients when confronted w/factual information as to how this facility compares to other, similar & local facilities. Highland doesn’t have any marketing material, and administration seems to lack knowledge of the law when it comes to release of medical information, “Durable &/or Statutory Powers of Attorneys, etc. The dietary department does the best it can, and activities are limited to Highland Nursing Ctr. They cannot/do not provide for any activities away from the facility, ie. no shopping trips, etc. Overall Highland Nursing Center leaves is a lot to be desired.

The most positive thing I can say about this facility is that it’s usually very clean and doesn’t smell badly compared to other nursing homes that have a terrible smell as soon as you walk in. Unfortunately there are far more negative things to say. CNA’s are a lot more hard working than nurses, 98% of nurses are not friendly nor patient with residents, I’ve seen several staff take A LOT of smoke breaks during their shift, administrative staff lacks empathy or answers to majority of questions I had about my fathers bruises or lost items from his room. Along with his clothes, my father’s…

Along with his clothes, my father’s blankets were used by other people without permission even though his name was on the tags mind you. They are quick to use sedative drugs to make their job easier. Charge nurses seem too lazy to be in charge of anything. My father passed away under suspicious circumstances that seemed to have been preventable if they would’ve done more frequent rounding on residents and would’ve noticed him a lot sooner than they did.

I have my father here, the staff is not quit friendly, when ask for help. They make comments when I take my dad out for the day. I was sent a letter for care plan, no one knew anything about it. The ADON said she would tell the person who shedules them. Never got an answer. It's been a month now. I wish I can take him out. ....... The ADON said she would tell the person who shedules them. Never got an answer. It's been a month now. I wish I can take him out. ....... On February 22, 2022 I was transferring my father to another Facility the Administrator Michael and the Business Office Mary/ CNA, and CNA Shelby were blocking my father's doorway of his room. The Administrator said that my father wasn't going anywhere, I explained to him that I was the POA of my father. The Administrator Michael kept insisting that he was my father's spoke person, he was trying to intimidate me and my sister. The other Facility was waiting and waiting for my father to arrive. I can't believe that any family would go through this . It was the most horrifying thing . I had to call the police in order to get father out of this Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation facility. Don't take your love ones there. Please...Please..

I’m not one to leave reviews. But in this case,Highland Gardens Group, LLC definitely deserves a positive review for their commitment to extraordinary customer service. When I call in, no matter who I speak with, they are always courtesy and friendly. They go out of their way to make sure my questions are answered. But what I love most is just how they make me feel. They really make me feel important, that my business means something and is special to them. There aren’t many companies out there that do this anymore, and I highly recommend them to my friends and family.

I love this home for my mother. It is a homey residence that cares for a small group. The caregivers are friendly and mindful. The owners live on the premises and are always on call. I feel very blessed that my mother is living at Highland Gardens.

On the outskirts of town; there's a down home Mediterranean retirement Villa out Pecan Valley that's a Texas hospitality tradition kept in southern families for generations Highland Nursing Center is a favorite heirloom jewel you won't soon want to leave, reminiscent of a simple time long ago This Family run bungalow employs the happiest, friendliest staff this side of Cuba out by Floresville Search no further for your only loved ones. Heaven is here in these parts. Expensive but Well worth it. Beauty salon hair do and Social dances, Saturday church services, Bible bingo, organ players and hip disco jockeys every month so save the date now Nature's special bonus is the wildlife birds and this resident cat everyone knows as property ambassadors Y'all come on back now You hear!

Great staff and clean place patients treated with respect .
