My 89 year old mother went in after her hospital stay. She was diagnosed with new onset of diabetes. Given insulin twice a day. Followup with her primary is a week away. Dismissed her with an almost empty ( less that two days) insulin container and no needles. No knowledge on how to test or administer the injections. Just pushed out the door. This could be lethal. I called. Opposed to making it right, they chose to hang up on me. This error was potentially deadly, and they make no apologies. I am filing an incident with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. You want to avoid putting your loved one in the care of Hillside Heights.
Years after my mom had passed away they sent me a bill for almost two thousand dollars and threatened to evict her from their care. I would have gladly paid to pick her up.
Hillside Heights has been such a blessing since a family member moved in. From the welcome by the receptionist, and all of the staff who helped with evaluations, paper work and so much more. But most of all the care is awesome. The facility is warm, clean and feels like home.
The staff was really friendly and helpful. They encouraged me to move and now I am starting to feel better.
⭐ 1 Star Review This facility did not just fail my father—they neglected him, and he paid the price for it. We trusted this place to care for him during rehab stays. Meanwhile, he was telling us it felt like a “prison.” We dismissed it at the time. That was a mistake. One day I showed up unannounced and found him slumped over in a recliner, burning with a high fever and barely coherent. There was no staff around. When I finally found a nurse, I was told he had “just been moved.” That excuse is unacceptable. Anyone providing even basic care should have immediately recognized something was seriously wrong. He was rushed to the ER shortly after and suffered two seizures. We were repeatedly told he had fallen out of bed, yet every time we were reassured there were no issues. Their solution was to lower his bed and put a mat on the floor—nothing to address the root problem, nothing to prevent it from continuing. Just the bare minimum. The most disturbing part came after he passed. For months, we noticed he couldn’t fully extend his leg. We assumed it was related to his knees. After his death, the funeral director asked how long his hip had been dislocated. A dislocated hip—something that causes extreme, constant pain—was never once communicated to our family. Not by the nurses. Not by hospice. No one. That means my father likely spent his final days suffering while the people responsible for his care either missed it or ignored it. Even in his final moments, the negligence didn’t stop. After we told the nurse he had passed, she still attempted to give him medication and barely checked for a pulse. It was clear she either didn’t know what she was doing or simply didn’t care. And to make matters worse, this facility still had the audacity to try to collect more money after everything that happened. This was not just poor care—this was a complete breakdown of responsibility, accountability, and basic human decency. No family should ever have to question whether their loved one suffered because of the people entrusted to care for them—but we do. If you are considering this place, take this as a warning: do not assume your loved one will be safe here. Ask questions. Show up unannounced. Pay attention to everything. We didn’t push hard enough—and that’s something we’ll have to live with.
The staff is excellent. The OT and OT were very beneficial. Would recommend the facility. Great Place!
Mix up with Medicare, insurance and hospice. They sent my ex husband home, nowhere near ready, and just dropped him off in the bad shape he was in, and left. I got to his house about an hour later and he has already fallen. Had to call the ambulance to come take him back to Bsa to have his newly broken hip redone. Check them out throughly!
Very good therapy. My second time with HH. Therapy knows what to with me. Nurses are real sweet to me.
