My brother who’s 73 yrs old today has been there close to a year now. He’s Handicapped needs therapy & we are very happy that he’s doing so well. Workers are very helpful & considerate and we are very pleased with the care they’re giving him.
My father-in-law recently had his leg amputated and was needing a rehabilitation center to live at during his recovery time. This place has been wonderful! They’ve been helpful, attentive, and they have a lot of activities for their patients. The staff have all been supportive and nice to work with. The facility itself is clean. Overall, we’ve had a great experience thus far.
My sister was sent to this rehabilitation center. I got there a day ahead of time to check out the facility. And the young lady up front the receptionist was so nice she gave me a tour of the facility and I was extremely impressed because everyone seems to be caring which can be a rarity of times in a medical field. When I first pulled up I noticed the place was well kept the lawn was manicure with beautiful flowers. It is a facility but I would send it in my loved ones too
All I have to say is that my mom enjoyed her time there. During her time there she was doing therapy for speech and physical I can't say anything bad because before she went in she was weak she came out strong and ready to live life. The nurses all cared for her and took the time to tell her she's gonna be ok during her moments of missing family. I will forever be grateful for the care they gave my mom.
Last year my father was here, getting rehab after a long stay in the hospital, after a hernia surgery. Everyone was great. This year, my father was here for stroke recovery, and everything had changed. One of the care plan managers (I forget her name. She had reddish curly hair, and was Hispanic) we met with blew me away with how little she listened or paid attention to ANYTHING we had to say, and behaved as though my dad was a lost cause. I also spoke to her on the day of his discharge, and she was condescending, as hell. Behaved as though I didn’t know anything I was talking about, and kept trying to say that my father “had had several strokes”, when she clearly had no idea what she was talking about and was extremely argumentative. I thought we were just going to have a simple conversation regarding his discharge but instead she was trying to cut me off and talk over me the moment I started speaking. She insisted he could walk with a walker and refused to lend us a wheelchair temporarily when she clearly had no clue, my father still needs a wheelchair. There was one day we went to see him after their lunchtime and he had a gash on his leg that had been bleeding so much that plasma had begun to leak out and no one had done anything about it. He was wearing short shorts that were wet because he had gone to the bathroom (he had clean pants ready in his drawer) and was cold. His shirt and beard were filthy with whatever he had for lunch, and they clearly just wheeled him straight back to his room and ignored it. My daughter asked for him to be changed and nothing was done for about 20-30 minutes until I finally got fed up and said something. I also noticed how understaffed you guys seem to be. On a more positive side, the women in the admissions and business office were very kind and helpful. And the PT/OT staff were absolutely wonderful. They’re a very caring group of people. And I became acquainted with a few of the CNA’s that were terrific. My dad’s case manager is also very kind, and saved the day for us. She was instrumental in helping us get my dad home safely. Do better Pecan Valley Rehab. You were a great place last year. The elderly and disabled are humans. They’re not dollar signs, they’re not subhuman. They are people with needs, and families who care about them. God forbid one of your elderly family members, or even YOU end up in a situation like the one my father was put through, one day. You’re lucky I’m not filing a formal complaint. And I hope you’re honest enough to give us the rest of my fathers’ clothes back!
Es un lugar donde reciben la atención y cuidado adecuados para su rehabilitación los pacientes que necesitan un trato humano en San Antonio, Texas, muchas gracias🙂
This is the worst place ever. My parents were brought here to spend a week in their so called care to give my sister and I a break from the 24/7 care we provide to both parents. Placing my parents in this facility for a week has caused me and my family great remorse and regret wondering what my parents went through at the hands of this pathetic and worthless staff at this facility. We were told that it would be better not to visit so as to allow ourselves time to rest and rejuvenate. Not only did these incompetents lose my father's clothes, they never used the clothes we provide for my mother. They brought her home in a hospital gown which is totally inappropriate since she is always cold . This is obviously what they had her in for the 5 days. They also sat them in a wheelchair for hours when they both are in home hospice care and if they had a brain and and an ounce of decency they could see that they were too weak to sit in a wheelchair for hours while they sat at the nurses station stuffing their faces while ignoring these poor souls as they sat in a dark dreary room with no stimulation or interaction whatsoever.I saw this when I had to go by the day they brought my parents home and my father's clothing was missing. When my parents were brought home I was not there but my sister said she thought my mother was dead..she looked terrible, pale, weak and unconscious. I confirmed that when I got there. My father was so weak and thirsty we had to give him glass after glass of water. I was shocked at how they had declined in health drastically after only one week in the hands of these pathetic, unethical and incompetent staff members who shouldn't be allowed to take care of a doorknob. I had to go to the dreary and dreadful place the day my parents were brought home because the five pants and 4 shirts that belong to my father were missing. Of course I was lied to and given a lame excuse with the promise of calling me once they found my father's clothes which were labeled with his name on them. I called three times after that and was told I would recieve a call back which I never did. I let the receptionist know that a hair brush that didn't belong to my mother was in her bag and they delivered a very nice wheelchair that doesn't belong to my parents and we wanted it returned to its rightful owner. I'm led to believe they take everyone's belongings dump them in a room and pull what they want as needed. You people disgust me and have no business working with these human beings that need kindness, compassion, respect and gentle loving care. You all are pathetic, incompetent, disgusting, lazy, liars, unethical and evil.
It was a nice visit and all the that I met were cordial and professional. Thank you for looking after my family member. I came to see my sister.
