Our family has an excellent experience with Remington Transitional Care of Richardson for my mother. The nursing staff is incredibly attentive and rarely makes mom wait long when the call button is pressed. The facility is consistently clean and free of any odors. Communication from the social worker and nursing director has been proactive and clear. We highly recommend Remington Transitional Care of Richardson.

My mother had a wonderful experience at Remington. It was so clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent to her. She is 93 and broke 5 ribs. She had wonderful physical therapists! Gary and Ginger were fantastic! They really helped her. Her occupational therapist, I think her name was Lena, was really sweet and so helpful. Plus her everyday nurses aides, Emanuel, William and Hannah, were fantastic! They helped her with everything. I so appreciate their help with all they did for my mother. I have nothing but good things to say. It’s all about trust and I really trusted all of the wonderful…

My mother’s recent stay at Remington due to hip fracture was a good experience. The staff was very friendly and everyone in the physical & occupational therapy department got my mother to where she could home just 2 weeks after being admitted. A special shout to the following people who made my mother’s stay better: Catrice (who was there to answer any of our questions and/or concerns), Debra made sure to check if patients wanted to participate in daily activities, William who drove my mother to her doctors appointment and stayed with her until I arrived at said appointment. I do not recommend this place. Some of the staff seemed like they didn't care about my wellbeing nor that of their other patients. I did not receive daily physical therapy nor did they provide a diabetic (or cardio-care) diet option. One of the male attendants came to check my vitals and repeatedly jabbed the metal thermometer probe under my arm. I told him that he was hurting me and asked him to hand me the probe to place it under my arm myself. Needless to say, I decided not to stay the full 3 weeks approved by my insurance. I got there on a Thursday and requested to be discharged that weekend. ***These issues are minor compared to the fact that the day I was discharged they tried to give me 6 unknown medications. When I brought it to the nurses attention, she insisted that I was only given medications that were prescribed. When I asked to see the list of prescriptions (including which doctor prescribed them), I was told to go to the front office - only to be told that I had to fill out a written request to have MY records released to ME by the corporate office. Days later, I picked up the records - only to see that the pages showing the daily logs were too blurry to read.

Debra Hall is the activities Director at this facility. She has gone above and beyond her job.. I’m a nurse with 40 years of nursing experiences I have been in and out of numerous facilities and I have not seen any activity director of this caliber. She has brought in entertainers from all genres!! So that she wouldn’t miss anybody and the type of music that they would want to hear. She also noticed when I was upset, asked if there was anything she could do to help me and direct me to the right resources to get my needs me. I looked forward to her activities and was glad to be able to get out of my room and go and participate in the different Things that she had going on. This was so refreshing and pleasant during a time that I was sad, depressed, and discouraged thanks so much Debra for all that you did for me and all I watch you do for the other residence!!!’

They are so understaffed that we feared for our loved one. He sat in a wheel chair for 2 hours because I could not get help. In 6 days he fell twice. ( no alarm on the bed) When I asked for help people just walked away When we arrived we had no room assigned. We were sent to a room without the required oxygen. The air was not working. The room smelled. We were ignored for 2 hours. I rarely saw them taking g vitals. Trays were left We brought in an aid to help with bathing He changed the linens. The security was lax people could easily walk in without signing in. “ The nurses station” on the second floor was rarely occupied We last 6 days and moved our loved one.

I would give zero stars if I could. Beware of sending your loved one to this facility. My mother died a few weeks ago in the care of Remington. She was in there waiting for knee surgery. I had just visited her 2 days before we got the phone call telling us she suddenly died. I couldn’t believe she was gone just like that. She was completely fine, in great spirits, and excited to be moving to Hawaii when she got out of there. Without going into grave detail, I was told that the nurse came in and saw her laying funny and checked her O2 levels and it was 88. She was unresponsive, so she gave her a breathing treatment instead of oxygen and calling 911. My mom never had a chance because she was not given emergency treatment. She laid in bed and died while 2 different people seen her laying there and did not find her unresponsiveness as an emergency. Her cause of death was “Natural causes” and they denied an autopsy so we will never know what truly happened. I immediately requested medical records and was denied of that also. Nothing adds up and we are heartbroken and without our mother. Again, she was in the facility waiting for knee surgery. Please don’t send your loved ones here.

After reading more recent reviews, what upset me most was realizing our family’s experience was not unique. Many families are describing the same concerns we experienced ourselves: poor communication, delayed response times, lack of attentiveness, and loved ones being left sitting in soiled bedding or needing more care than they were receiving. My father has complex medical and wound-care needs, and our family repeatedly had to advocate for basic follow-through and monitoring. While there were individual staff members who were kind, the overall system felt inconsistent and reactive instead of proactive. What is especially frustrating is seeing the same generic management response copied under review after review about how patient care is their “mission” and asking families to reach out privately. Our family DID raise concerns repeatedly during his stay, and the issues still continued. Families looking into this facility for a loved one who requires extensive hands-on care, wound care, mobility assistance, or close supervision should ask very detailed questions and stay highly involved in daily oversight. I truly wish our experience had been different.
