My mother started in Independent Living and has moved to Assisted Living. The staff is amazing. They are kind, loving, caring and trustworthy. I would highly recommend The Abbey as a place to live for older folks.
My name is Patricia Diggs. I have been at the Abbey now for eight months. I came from Chicago Illinois living in an independent living building. The Abbey is a much better living facility. I’m excited it has a swimming pool my favorite sport. The food is superb the activity schedule is much better than my living place in Chicago. Movies in the evening every night, I enjoy line dancing, water aerobics, and soon they’re going to implement water volleyball. For less active seniors, there are many activities for you as well. JB who is from the corporate office goes beyond the call of duty all the time. He helps me with my network with my television and it affects my iPhone as well which is hard to keep the technology going. He always had a solution to keep me online. If anyone is looking for a luxury living retirement facility, the Abbey is the place. I guarantee you will be satisfied ! Also asked for the moving specialist, Renee, or Raquel . They would be more than happy to answer any questions or have you move into the Abbey soon?
I had a great experience visiting The Abbey! I wanted to take a moment to recognize JD Fuller as he was fantastic. He gave an excellent tour, was incredibly personable, and I was genuinely impressed that he knew everyone’s name. You can tell he really cares about the residents and what he does. I also want to acknowledge Executive Director Sahar Hussain for leading such a welcoming and well-run community. It really shows in the atmosphere and the team. Beautiful building, theatre, wellness center, dining halls. Overall, a wonderful visit and a great group of people. Highly recommend checking…

I have been a resident at The Abbey for a little over a month and I can say that The Abbey goes above and beyond to create an happy environment of genuine care and respect. A true family feeling from all the staff which I have interacted with. Whether the receptionist who greets my daughter, the friendly housekeeping team, or the many skilled caregivers in memory care, I feel like they truly care for me and that they WANT to be here helping each of the residents. This is NOT the case in other location I have been at!! The Abbey provides this exceptional level of care without an exorbitant price tag, making it an excellent choice for the residents and families seeking high-quality senior living on a budget. I love the many activities each week provided, the yummy food which has many choices to choose from, the wonderful staff who enjoy playing games with me, helping each day, reminding me where to sit, dancing with me, and most of all treating me with respect and dignity.
I strongly recommend against this retirement community. This is purely my opinion. It is based upon my experience over the past 10 months or so with a close loved one. In terms of the positives, the staff are generally nice and try to support the residents as best they can. The actual amenities are generally good as well, particularly the indoor swimming pool and fitness. The food is fine - it can be a little hit or miss and was never great but got the job done. Some of the residents are friendly. However, there are strong cliques and that does not create a welcoming environment or culture. Lastly, ownership can be very prickly, rigid, and argumentative, although they will hide behind the staff. If you disagree with ownership over something, you may find yourself being the target of claims made against you, even if there is reasonable disagreement. In our view, The Abbey isn't afraid to take advantage of seniors, and they seem to be willing to go after residents after the move out over what they consider unpaid rent (which we have disagreed with). If I owned a retirement community, I would not want that as my reputation, but that is apparently not shared by the owners at The Abbey. If you do elect to move into The Abby, know what you are getting into and tread carefully.
When you are searching for an assisted living or memory care location for your loved one, trust me NOT ALL are the same and sadly many will promise things they cannot and do not deliver! We are so lucky to have found The Abbey at Westminster Place. While some may say it is too pricy or only consider price when looking that the care is all the same. THAT IS SO FAR FROM WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED PREVIOUSLY!!! The Abbey is worth every penny! So far, I visit my father with a smile each day rather than worrying what "problem" or lack of care I would discover. The Abbey follows follow protocols, are professional and compassionate, are willing to work with family members to address requests or concerns, have safety procedures in place to ensure your loved ones safety, kind staff who truly enjoy working there (that is hard to find), and most of all acknowledges when the ball was dropped and willing to make changes when necessary. Tameka (Wellness Director) truly listens to your concerns and requests and creates a care plan to best assist your loved one. If you a concern, she is quick to investigate and get back to you. Rukayat (AL Director) is truly compassionate and is so kind during her assessment of your loved one. While she needs to do an assessment to recommend the best fit for your loved one, she does NOT demoralize your loved one! Jill and Norma (Activities Directors) put together a wonderful calendar of events that my father truly enjoys! Raquel (Move In Coordinator) assisted me throughout the move in process and followed through after to make sure everything needed was completed. Ashley (front desk receptionist) allows greets me with a smile and ready to answer my questions and get me answers as I learn the ropes. No place is perfect but The Abbey checks so many boxes which were not provided at our previous location. Most of all, both my father and I enjoy just being part of this community! The level of activities and healthy yummy food here at The Abbey is amazing!!! Each activity I have been to, I see the staff engaging with the residents and the staff leading the activity excited to be there and offer this for the residents! My dad's bubbly spirit has returned after moving to The Abbey! The care staff whom I have seen are ready to help you and point you in the right direction if they cannot. They truly enjoy their job and helping their residents! The administration attend many events and know the residents. The are professional and polite. Sadly many assisted living and memory care facilities take advantage of the elderly who are the most vulnerable and silence their voice or twist events and then blame on the residents lack of memory! Remember most of all, no location is perfect but what I have seen in these past weeks, The Abbey at Westminster Place is BY FAR superior and I look forward to attending the activities which truly occur when they are stated and well attended. The residents I have met so far at The Abbey, greet me with a smile and often ask me to join them or sit down and chat with them. They truly look happy. If you are need for an independent, assisted living or memory care facility, please consider contacting The Abbey at Westminster Place. Renee will be happy to give you a tour and answer your questions.
It's a nice facility. The cafeteria staff was very kind and the apartments are nice. They could not have been worse to my mom. So many bad things happened. If your loved one has ANY cognitive issues, don't choose the Abbey. Eagle's trace is much better. It's like a family there. Brookdale down the street is great for assisted living or memory care. But please don't choose The Abbey.
This is one of the worst retirement homes I ever been to
