I would strongly encourage families to do their research before placing a loved one at what is now known as Hudson House (formerly The Acres). My father stayed here for a period of time. He has dementia, so I initially understood that some of his complaints could be related to his condition. However, over time, our family became increasingly concerned about the care and communication we experienced. Kendra is a very fast talker, and unfortunately, we learned that we needed to pay very close attention to what was actually being promised versus what was ultimately done. We were told that we would receive a refund for days my father did not stay at the facility, but that refund was never provided. Kendra, I have plenty of messages documenting our conversations and giving you opportunities to make things right, and you chose not to. Another major concern was that our mailing address was changed with the VA to the facility's address, and important VA correspondence regarding my father's benefits was being sent there. That was extremely concerning to our family. We also became uncomfortable with conversations about hospice. My father was being encouraged toward hospice for what was presented as a way to assist with bathing. Based on our understanding of his condition and his actual medical needs, we did not believe hospice was appropriate for him. His regular medications were limited, and we felt this conversation raised serious concerns about whether hospice was being suggested for the right reasons. Communication was another major problem. We were frequently given explanations that seemed to change, and we felt like we were being sent in circles instead of receiving clear answers. There also appeared to be significant staff turnover during our experience. The food was another issue. My father sometimes would not eat, and the meals we saw included things such as frozen fish sticks. Nutrition is extremely important for an elderly person, especially someone with dementia, and this was disappointing to see. One of the most serious issues for our family was my father's fall. We were extremely concerned about how the incident was handled and whether it was properly reported. Ultimately, our family decided that we could no longer trust the facility with his care, and we removed him. I also never personally saw a nurse affiliated with the facility come out to regularly assess or care for my father. We spoke with a nurse on the first day during the initial assessment, but after that, when issues arose, we did not see the level of nursing involvement we expected. I am writing this review because families deserve to know what our experience was like. Please ask questions, verify everything you are told, request documentation, and stay closely involved in your loved one's care. Kendra, you had multiple opportunities to make things right, and you chose not to. I have messages documenting our conversations and the promises that were made. Based on our family's experience, I would not recommend this facility for my loved one, and I would strongly encourage anyone considering it to investigate thoroughly before making that decision.
1.Overall experience 2.Cleanliness of the facility (the facility smelled of strong urine each time I visited my mother. On two occasions when I visited my mother, there was urine puddles on the floor. I had to notify the staff to clean it.) 3.Friendliness (staff was OK but they precipitated the environment.) 4.Quality of care (there was a period that there was no hot water. The owner tried to give me a ridiculous story that was not logical. When I brought it to her attention and let her know it was unacceptable, hot water was available.) 5.Administrative staff (administrative staff is a joke.…

There's a reason the facilities's name has been changed on multiple occasions. My family launched a complaint against the facility. No one should have their family in such filth.) 6.Food (the meals they served were for kindergartners. Hot dogs and french fries are not nutritious meals for elderly Residence with diabetes and high blood pressure. If that meal was the one off, I would be OK but that meal was on multiple occasions.) 7.Activities (sitting residence in front of a television is not an activity. That is all they did.) 8.Value for the money (paying $[removed]a month I would expect a much better experience for my mother. There was there for less than two months.)
It the worst place don't report anything that going on with love ones keep them sleep don't bath them don't tell family about bed sores take family out don't send no love one there

My family and I cannot thank Kendra and the rest of the hard-working women at The Acres Assisted Living. They were unbelievably kind to our mother. She passed away this morning, but knowing that she was in this place that the Lord Jesus chose for her, gave us all so much peace. My mother raved about the staff and the food. We would absolutely recommend this facility for anyone who has the horrible task of having to finding somewhere to put a loved one. Lastly, this place is immaculate.! Thank you to the entire staff and God bless you all, Stephanie. Alison, Jim and Lisa
What our family likes about The Acres is the size of the home and some caregivers who would engage my mom, but they could improve activities, food varieties, decision making for daily personal care and some other small details.
I was looking for a memory assisted facility for my mother and a A Place for Mom reached out to me. They were very helpful and genuinely concerned about the needs of my mom and myself. They found exactly what was best for both.
