My 93yo dad moved in a month ago and has been very happy. The staff are excellent. I think every one of them knows him by name, and they're always friendly and helpful. And the food is excellent! According to dad, the omelet at the Sunday brunch is the best he's ever had, and I have to agree! Before deciding on The Landon, I visited 6 other similar communities and The Landon stood out for all the reasons above.
The Landon is an excellent facility. My Mom was a resident for five years and those years were filled with quality care, events, happy hour and music. Mom's time at The Landon were a gift as she aged. A huge thank you to Eileen and the entire Landon team for all that was done for Mom and for all that they continue to do for the current residents.
I really appreciated the prompt and friendly service I got from the maintenance team over the weekend when my apt wasn't cooling,- You can rely on Michael!
Great place but concerned about the wait staff and kitchen going to White Rock on lunch and smoking weed . Seams like a liability
Landon at Lake Highlands is independent living with extra assistance if needed. The staff is very friendly. They have a very low turnover rate. This place has been open for 17 years, and they have someone who has been working here since the beginning of the conception of the agency. I like that about it. It seems like they like to work here, and they're not here for a paycheck, which is nice. They have a pool that is open during the warmer season. I like that because I can do water exercises for my arthritis. They also have a physical therapist on staff which is helpful as I'm recovering from a knee replacement surgery. I have a two-bedroom apartment, but they also have one-bedrooms and studios. The apartments are very nice. Housekeeping is included as part of the rent that you pay. They have washer and dryer hookups in the apartments, so you can do your laundry in your apartment instead of having to use a public machine. I like that, too. They provide full kitchens in the apartments. If you choose to do your own cooking, you can. You can benefit from their prepared meals as well. The chef is very good. They provide three meals a day, and they're open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., which is kind of nice. I'm blind, but my relatives said it's a very clean place. I also think it's well-kept. I have not experienced any activities as of yet because this is my third weekday. However, they have lots of activities. They also have nondenominational worship services on the premises. It is a pet-friendly community, which I like because I want to get a dog. My brother said that they have a fitness center and a gym with some nice equipment.
I visited the independent living side of The Landon at Lake Highlands, and it just had a very positive energy. I saw several residents, and they were engaging. They showed me an available room, and it was in line with what my mom needed.
My mother has been at the Landon since July 2024 and I can't say enough good things about this place. It is extremely clean, the food is wonderful, the activities are plentiful and the staff is incredible. In particular, Mark Sheets has been a wonderful person to work with. From the beginning of meeting him during the touring process, he worked diligently to make sure he showcased why the Landon would be the right spot for her. After touring 9 different independent living communities, it was because of Mark that I realized the Landon was where my mother needed to be. He continues to show both my mother and me extreme courtesies every time he sees us. His willingness to continually go out of his way to make sure she is enjoying her new home puts my mind at ease to know that we picked the perfect place for her. Mark is without a doubt a true asset to the Landon. Whether one is dealing with Mark or any of the other staff, please rest assured that your loved one will be taken care of at the Landon.
I knew the first time I walked onto the property, this was a quality facility. Mark Sheets went over and above to address every question and concern. He and I toured the campus and discussed what it would take to move my mother out of her home of over 50 years. I knew mom would need to be close to the dining room, so location was critical. A recent vacancy was to be ready for viewing in about a week. I viewed the same floor plan further down the hall and felt it would be adequate for mom's needs. When mom and I looked at the apartment, there was immediate interest in exploring this option further. Mark then offered us to have lunch and experience the food first hand. That closed the deal! The food is delicious, the residents are friendly, the few pets residing there are adorable. Mom has not been this happy and comfortable in a LONG time. She is walking more than before for her three meals a day as well as her two happy hours a week. Mom says- " I feel like I am on a cruise!" We can not wait until cooler weather to sit out on her beautiful balcony and watch the sunset together.
