Woodland Cottages Senior Living College Station

We have been living at the Woodland Cottages for a full year now. In the summer of 2023, health issues made researching the next phase of our living arrangements a new consideration. We did tours of all the available retirement communities in the BCS area. Although the Woodland Cottages here in College Station had barely broke ground at the time, it seemed obvious to us that the concept of “cottages” might best fit us because we didn't feel ready to downsize to an apartment and we really wanted ground level and a garage. In August of 2023, Mark and Renee began holding monthly informative lunch gatherings to explain their vision for their Woodland Cottages communities. We watched the CS Woodland Cottages grow from the ground up; and in October of 2024, we were sure that the Woodland Cottages community would be the best fit for us. We are both still active individuals, but we knew we needed to reduce physical demands such as maintenance/landscape, etc. We had met many of the prospective residents at the monthly lunches and it seemed like the human community would also be a good fit. Although downsizing and giving up our larger home on its 3 acres in rural Carlos was a daunting prospect, we have found the size of our 2Bdm/2bath cottage along with the attached garage really fits our needs now. The office staff, Kim, Cindy, Emma and Jason, are like an extended family and Jason is so knowledgeable and responsive to each little maintenance question or need that arises. Also, what a relief to know that the mowing and landscaping is being taken care of weekly without one of us being out in the heat or having to maintain the equipment to do the chores. The friends we have made here is an unexpected advantage that we truly had not foreseen. Beyond the “physical” and “financial” aspects of Woodland Cottages (everything included in the rent except personal phone), there is the “human” community here that is definitely a major contributing factor to our positive transition to these Woodland Cottages. The scores of planned events that fill the monthly calendar along with gatherings suggested by the residents can fill up a person’s calendar quickly and provide all kinds of fun, laughter and companionship.

I highly recommend Woodland Cottages. This 55+ community provides a welcoming community atmosphere with a feel of home. Their clubhouse offers a place for residents and the leadership team to come together for fun and educational events throughout the year. Kim and Cindy are always ready to Welcome you home!!!

Woodland Cottages is wonderful. It’s like living in a very-well-designed real house without the hassles of owning a real house. All of the people that I have met who live here are very friendly. I highly recommend Woodland Cottages to those who want a truly independent-living community for “seasoned” adults.

We have lived here for 6 months, and we absolutely love it! Amenities abound, and the local management is great. It’s such a relief to be out from under the burden of home ownership. Check it out if you’re looking for quality independent living in close proximity to everything - Kroger’s, CVS, Walgreens, Baylor Scott and White, St. Joseph Health, and a host of restaurants and services.
