Adora Midtown is closing. The person we visited today is moving tomorrow. But what a lovely place, clean and with a pleasing decor. Closing…why?
I love this place! It’s always clean and is a good place to work.
From the moment I walked in the door the receptionist was greeting me. She was very professional and took temp, had me sign in with new system, asked
I had high hopes that this would be a great place unfortunately it was the worst. There rehab employees are great and some of the nurses try really hard but they are so short-staffed it's harmful to the patients. I actually had one nurse dig through the trash beside my bed looking for a syringe to put saline in to flush my IV. That's just one incident and there where many more. Please do not put your loved one in this place. The communication is horrible. The food is horrible. I think you get the picture.
My mom is at Adora and my visit with her is always pleasant.
So that front Desk lady (Onishua Heliton) is the best ever please stop bye to get a life experience. Best place to come to.... Customer service is at 100000% Staff is wonderful. Renee Cook
HORRIBLE place. NEGLECT and NO COMMUNICATION--The building is beautiful which is the only nice thing I can say about Adora. My dad was transferred to Adora after being in the hospital for a brain injury and contracting COVID in the hospital. He is completely bedridden and was left without a call button with NO ONE checking on him. We had no way of contacting him and they do not answer the phones at the nurses station. It was horrible knowing he had just been released for a brain injury and now has covid, but we could not check on him to ensure he is okay. The lack of communication is HUGE. No one will return your phone calls or emails. We were told there would be a family and treatment team meeting. I called and called. I left numerous messages for day and time of the meeting. They called at work me 30 minutes before the meeting. The plan set forth during the meeting has not been followed and they do not communicate with the family. They did not give his medicine as prescribed which were supposed to be crushed because he cannot swallow pills. They forced him to swallow the pills even though he was choking. Now he is scared of swallowing pills. They did not give him other medications because they did not know what it was for. (it was for a brain tumor). They never bothered to call the family or a doctor for information but decided they would not give him the meds. On a couple of occasions when I visited his food tray was on the bedside table after a couple of hours after dinner but no one fed him. When I asked the staff, I was told, "oh they must have forgotten again." NO it is not okay to forget to feed someone. It was a consistent problem that the room smelled strong of urine because they had not changed him. When we addressed this with the DON, she said she would speak to the staff about this but nothing changed. They rarely gave him a call button, but then they would get mad at him for yelling down the hall for help. They would add notes into the clinicals stating he was not compliant for yelling but failed to add that he had no way to getting help/assistance. On a couple of occasions, during my visit, I pushed the call button and no one came for hours. I went to the hall to look for someone on several occasions but could not find any staff. I found another resident's family, who said she can never find anyone either. When we addressed this issue with the DON, she said that she was sorry but they were short handed. So an entire floor did not have staff? How do you run a business like that? You cannot care for your residents without help. When the staff was present, they were on their phones or talking to each other. On several occasions, I listened to the call messages come over the audio system stating, "patient needs assistance", but would see a staff member sitting at the desk playing on their social media. I asked if she heard the message and she said, "yes, but it is not my patient". Staff is rude and does not care. When my dad was rushed to the hospital because they thought he might be having another stroke, they never called the family to make us aware. I was notified by the ER staff after he was at the hospital. We were given completely false and contradictory information on applying for medicaid. We were told that they would help walk us through the process. It has only delayed us getting my father on medicaid. The entire experience has been horrible. NEGLECT and NO COMMUNICATION.
