Brookdale Waxahachie

In the beginning, Brookdale was good for my loved one. Toward the end, it began to be very unpleasant. My loved one was getting worse, and they were afraid to take care of him. I had caregivers telling me that they were afraid of him, not because he was violet, but because he was so tall. I had the nurse to tell me to check him into a psych ward, not because he was violent , but because he would not let anyone change his clothes or bathe him . The center really needs training on how to handle patients with Alzheimer's. I made a former complaint regarding [name removed] condition . After that complaint, I was called in to management office and was told that I would need to get a sitter for [name removed] or pay up to $[removed] a month. And if I pay the $[removed], I still will not be guaranteed that [name removed] would be taking care of better. I finally got [name removed] out of that center and I will not recommend it for anyone that really loves their loved one.

My mom has been in this facility since 2019. The facility is safe and the common areas are clean. However, for $5,500 a month you would think they could make sure she has a mini fridge in her room. Hers broke and they hauled it away months ago and they have yet to replace it. Even crappy cheap apartments come with a working fridge. They aren’t even that expensive, maybe $100 at most. I can’t afford to buy one (see rent amount above) and I should not have to. Just as I should not be responsible for keeping her room clean. They haven’t done a good carpet cleaning in her room in ages, the carpet is very stained. The staff who bring my mom meds/attend to her are very sweet and helpful, hence the three stars. If it weren’t for them I would definitely dock stars from my rating.

My mother absolutely loves where she lives and is the happiest I have seen her in years. She has met many wonderful friends and loves keeping busy with all of the daily activities! Thank you Brookdale Wax for taking such great care of my mother!

This facility should be avoided at all costs. The rates quoted were not accurate. Before moving in we were given a written notice for fees that was later ignored with bills for services that were not rendered. Attempts to resolve this were met with denial that the previous meetings took place despite the presence of multiple witnesses. Our father only stayed for 6 weeks while family was out of the country and unable to visit. During the short stay, our father fell out of bed and fractured his shoulder. The night staff came by once and gave him a pillow and left him on the floor. When we returned he was in very poor condition with multiple open wounds from falls that had not been treated.

I toured Brookdale Waxahachie. It was a little expensive. The staff seemed very friendly. The room seemed spacious and private. The building was very lovely. They have a courtyard. The community seemed clean and open. They have meeting rooms and so forth. They have a library and lots of amenities.
