My loved-one has been at Desire to Live for 7 years now. Ms. Butler has provided excellent and dependable care. Her experience and expertise in working with those with special needs far exceeds any other facility, whether it be nursing home or memory care facility, in our experience. Most facilities did not understand the disease nor did they understand how to reshape behaviors, positively.

My mother lived in Desire to Live for 7 years. She love it! She got up every morning to feed and water the chickens. She gathered the eggs also. She loved those chickens. They let her run the chicken house... I seen other clients planting and watering flowers. While others watched TV or lounge around. It was clear that Desire to Live was their home. The owner and her staff really enjoyed being with the ladies. They take them to play’s, restaurant’s, and even on short vacations. San Antonio was the last place for my mom. The families are also invited to participate.. WoW! When my mother needed hospice care, she had a private room with 24 nurses. We were able to stay all night with her. The staff was wonderful. They placed recliners, blankets and even a small refrigerator in the room. I will never forget what was done for my mother! Thank you [name removed], [name removed], and the rest of your wonderful team.!

Wow

I went to Desire to Live three months ago. It was back in June. When I spoke to Wanda she sounded like a really nice lady. She was offering me job and told me I could stay at her facility. At that time I have been in a hospital. It was back in June. I thought I was going to find calmness and peace by helping others in need. I instead found chaos. Wanda was so mean and so verbally abusive towards me that I thought she was going to get physical with me. She got mad at me for asking questions to try to clarify what she wanted me to do for her. I only wanted to do a good job, But she didn't see it that way. This woman was mean and so verbally abusive towards me that I thought she was going to get physical with me. This lady is prone to tantrums and is not nice to her residents . I got in trouble for giving the residents an extra piece of chicken. She might be nice their family members but she is not to her staff or to the people she has been put in charge of taking care of. I only saw her once exhibit warmth and care towards a resident. The place was sad. There were no activities for the residents and she told me to not learn there names because it wasn’t important. As far as cleanliness, we worked hard to keep the place clean and the residents clean. However, I witnessed her not using gloves to clean feces off of clients. I asked for gloves and she told me I had to buy my own. No ppe was provided. The towels and sheets were raggedy. I worked hard when I was there. I worked 85 hours in one week and she never paid me. I'm writing this now because I want to put this experience behind me. This is not a good place for someone to go stay and work. As far as placing a family member there, I wouldn’t do that either.

I know the owner of this place whom have been a great member of the community helping those in need. Men and women from all over have been helped by Wanda Butler. She is kind and helps those less fortunate get on their feet. She will help anyone and does not pass judgement towards anyone. I know personally how she has changed the lives of those addicted to drugs, mental health problems, homeless and unemployed. Having a member like this in my community makes me proud to be apart of her organization spreading love and joy to those in the community. Thank you Desire to Live for helping those who are unable to help themselves. Keep up the good work!!!!!!

This is my second review. My first review was taken down probably because it was not a favorable one Wanda Butler the so-called CEO is the closest to Satan's daughter as any. I was hired there to do ground work and I can tell you that woman is possessed with several unclean spirits. The way I saw her carrying on with 2 of the clients was totally reprehensible. She there cold water on the gentleman named Lee because he turned on the AC. Another time she took his $200 bike and threw it down in the lawn and castigated him something fierce. She jumped on a female client because she had moved a sweater. I asked several times for a pair of work gloves and was met with great resistance. I ended up with blisters and splinters. I have pictures of all. On my last day there she came in like a raging lunatic and ordered me out of the house before I could get all my belongings. If anyone reading this and is thinking of using this woman's place I suggest you reconsider. The pics shown on the web page us a farce. She has no program other than taking your money. God had a place for me to stay and a new job within 10 minutes of the Uber driver. She cheated me out of $100.00 This woman has more mental problems than the clients.
