Worst place to be if you want visitors. Visitor parking spaces are grossly deficient. Poor design that discouraged seniors from being visited by family, friends, and healthcare providers.
Bald security guard is VERY rude for no reason. I work for hospice and came by to see a patient at this complex for the first time. When asking for directions he was very blunt and said “I don’t know which building so I can’t help you.” He also kept cutting me off when I tried to speak. Another gentleman believed to be security was able to help me. The bald one is not a good representation of this establishment and I didn’t feel welcomed here at all.
We have lived at Highland Springs for almost four years and highly recommend it. Our apartment is a comfortable size with nice appointments, and yet friends and multiple activities are just steps away (without getting out in the cold, rain, or Texas heat). The larger the facility, the more options one has for interaction with others, and Highland Springs is probably the largest independent living complex in Dallas, with facilities for a medical center, assisted living, rehab, and memory care as well. Natalie is a great server and is very helpful.
I was there Friday of last week. I was coming to look for a place for a family member but honestly this is not the right place for them. 1) I am not sure how secure the location is. When I was inside there was a security guard arguing with someone from their front desk about a work order. It was clear the right hand wasnt talking to the left hand. 2) There were several bits of trash in the parking lot and inner main facility making me think they do not upkeep the location very well. 3) I didn't feel like a guest. How do I trust you with my family if I can't be treated well myself? No thanks.
Highland Springs advertises itself as a Continuing Care Community. But they failed to build assisted living and memory care as they were expanding their independent living. My parents moved into Highland Springs, hoping they could remain there for the rest of their lives. My father died in 2023, and my mother needed assisted living after that. We were told that the wait for assisted living was 6 to 12 months. During my parents time at Highland Springs, they kept on adding independent living, but did not increase their assisted living. After 2 months of effort, my mother moved into another location outside Highland Springs. Highland Springs promised that there would be a 100% refund of money rather than the standard 90% due to their inability to provide assisted living. But HS changed their minds. Eventually my mother found a place where she lived the rest of her life. At that time, HS offered her a chance to move back to HS. By that point, it would have been too stressful move her for a third time. Nevertheless, Highland Springs decided to revert to a 90% refund, keeping the 10% refund which they had promised us. Be very careful with Highland Springs. They cannot offer continuing care.
It's a great place. Everyone is friendly-- no exeptions!!@
