I’ve been around quite a few skilled nursing facilities over the years, and this one truly stands out because of the people. From the moment you spend time here, you can tell the staff genuinely care about the residents. The kindness and compassion aren’t forced! They treat people with dignity, patience, and respect, and it shows in the little things they do every day. One thing that really impressed me is the culture. It’s obvious that management cares about both the employees and the residents. That kind of leadership creates an environment where people actually enjoy what they do, and it makes a huge difference in the quality of care residents receive. It’s easy to tell this isn’t just a job for most of the team. They celebrate the residents, get to know them personally, and go the extra mile to make sure they feel cared for and valued. Families can have confidence knowing their loved ones are surrounded by people who genuinely have their best interests at heart. After seeing several skilled nursing facilities, I can honestly say this is one of the few places where the compassion feels real and consistent throughout the team. It’s no surprise to me that they were voted Best in Parker County. They have earned that recognition through the heart they put into caring for others every single day.

My mother-in-law has been placed at Avir Santa Fe for the past 8 months. During this time, the care that she has received at this facility has been very good. Her specific health issues have been addressed, and the staff has done an excellent job in caring for her on a 24-hour basis. The therapy she received was very good and in fact healed her fractured pubic bone. Darren (ADON), Melissa (LVN), Tina (CNA), Angela (CNA), and Erica, the entire staff has been very attentive to her needs. Tammy (DON) has always been great in communicating with us regarding my mother-in-law. Jennifer the Activities Director has great activities for the residents. Mike (Maintenance) is on top of any issues with the facility. Dee Dee, Donna, and Stacie are doing a wonderful job in the back office. All things being equal, the only element that needs to be addressed is the food quality. That needs to be upgraded. Other than that, changes are being implemented there for the benefit of the residents by virtue of the new company taking over. Katie (Administrator) is doing an outstanding job since she has been there to improve the overall quality of the facility.

From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by Darren Matthews, ADON. Everything happened so fast with my sweet mom (fractured pubic bone/Dementia/Sundowners). Darren was the calm within the storm for us. He treated us with respect and the same for my mom. As the days progressed, we came to know more of the staff. Truth be told, my family has adopted the staff. I will be the first to tell you that my mom has received the utmost care at this facility. All eyes have been on her since day one and she has been there for 8 months. Tina (CNA) is so kind to my mom and has taken the time to get to know her. Tina is very attentive to her needs and very protective of her. Melissa (LVN) is just a gem. She is very intentional and cares deeply for my mom as if she were her very own family member. Tammy the DON is amazing. She has an open-door policy and communicates very well with me. Erica is a calm in my storm as well. Erica keeps me in my lane when my mom is sundowning. The back-office staff are unbelievable! Dee Dee, Donna, April and Stacie, all of these women have such a key role at this facility. All of them are so professional with kind hearts. Jennifer the Activities Director has such great functions for the residents to attend and participate in. My mom had been a hard no in the past, but she has come around and is now participating which is great. When mom had to have therapy, the entire staff was so "team Nana". It was great! We love Kelly by the way! The new Administrator Katie is a definite keeper. Her professionalism and work ethic is beyond expectations. She too has an open-door policy and is easy to speak with. Rita, the Nurse Practitioner is very knowledgeable in helping me understand where my mom is at in this journey and has given wonderful advice. Dr. Niles the attending physician has always taken the time with me despite his busy schedule to discuss my mom, her medications, and overall care moving forward. The staff is very encouraging and very loving towards the residents. My mom has received exceptional care here. I have not had one issue with communication or my mom's care. Without a shadow of a doubt, I would highly recommend this establishment to care for your loved one. We have fallen in love with the residents and the staff. You won't be disappointed.
