I will start by saying that the center is very well kept and beautiful, and there are some very good people there who genuinely seem to care about the residents. Overall, there were parts of my mother’s care that I was pleased with. However, there were also several things that concerned me enough that I believe other families should know about them. When my mother came home after staying there for about two month, her fingernails were extremely long and her hair had grown quite a bit. I was told that services such as haircuts, and apparently nail care, are an additional charge. I understand that some grooming services may cost extra, but seeing her condition made me question how much attention was being given to her regular personal hygiene and care. Another concern involved her rehabilitation. My understanding was that she needed treatment for her shoulder, but she was being treated for her back instead. I honestly do not know whether that mistake came from the center, the doctor, the referral, or somewhere else, so I will not place blame where I don’t know the facts. We went back to her doctor and obtained another referral so she could return for rehabilitation. When I contacted admissions about bringing her back, I was then told that my mother had left approximately a $4,000 balance. I was also told they needed her check for the month and the paperwork and financial information required for her anticipated long-term placement. This concerned me because at that point we were trying to get her admitted for rehabilitation, not simply complete a long-term placement. As her son and caregiver, that entire experience left me uncomfortable. When you’re trusting strangers with someone you love, especially an elderly parent who depends on others for their care, you want to feel that their health, rehabilitation, hygiene, and well-being are the first priorities. I understand that facilities have bills to pay and requirements they must follow. I am not saying everything about this center was bad, because it wasn’t. There are good people working there, and the facility itself is very nice. I’m simply sharing what my family experienced and why I ultimately had concerns about bringing my mother back. My advice to other families is to ask a lot of questions, understand exactly what services are included, keep track of the treatment your loved one is receiving, and understand all financial requirements before making a decision. Do your research before placing someone you love into anyone else’s care. No one will advocate for your loved one the way you will. God bless.
They ignore patients they are heartless to their needs. Have no empathy towards the patients.
Great facility!!! Samantha is the best !!
This long term facility is horrible. My family member was always dirty, un groomed and was never turned. I seriously think they contributed to his passing. Please take your loved one elsewhere!!
They leave my father's food on the tray and walk away without seeing if he needs help eating. After they change him they forget to put his CALL BUTTON within reach. He called me asking for help since he couldn't reach but since it's early (i guess), nobody is answering the phones. When they finally did it was someone who didn't speak any English. The nurses are told he has bed sores but some of them are rough when they move him anyway. Some of the nurses ignore him when he tries to ask them for help.
My mom was here for the last month of her life because unfortunately I couldn't take care of her by myself at home. She had the most horrible experience during the last month and I was just about to take her out and just bring her home on hospice but she passed away on me before I could do that. I would try to go every day and in the beginning nobody wanted to take her to the restroom, they would lecture her and make her feel really bad that she didn't even want to call for help anymore, she would just sit there and wait until I got there and I would go and demand them to put her in the restroom so that she could finally go. I complained many times to the director to the director of nursing to the nurse that my mom was not being treated well they would scream at her. Like I mentioned before I would go there every day and I witnessed that my mom would push the button and even the lady in the next bed and they would not come to help them, the CNA would come in turn off the light and leave! My mom was miserable there I felt so bad I would cry everyday I didn't know what to do I didn't want her to be there I couldn't even take care of her by myself. The last day she was there the same thing, but this time my mom was very weak and she had to go in her diaper, when I got there this was on November er 6th she had been in her wet diaper all day since the morning and when I asked to CNA to change her she said " yes I will after my break"....she never came and I stayed there after visiting hours it was about 8:45 p.m. and the CNA came in just to turn the light off and I demanded that she changed her, my mom was drenched wet and she asked if that was sweat, I said no that's urine and her whole bed was dripping wet and I believe possibly that's why she developed pneumonia and I asked them to take her to the hospital that day and they said oh no she's ok because her vitals are okay. They didn't listen to me and then when it was 11:30 at night is when they finally took her to the hospital! I drove passing red lights trying to get to the hospital and I was there with her she was having trouble breathing and then she passed away there because she had water in her lungs ... She passed away because of pneumonia, not her cancer 💔 the doctor had told me she had about 6 months left to live 💔. But the point I'm trying to make is that they take forever to come and assist the patients. I was there every day advocating for her and she still was not treated well on her last month of life 😭😭😭 I regret taking her there so much because she had a horrible miserable last month of her life and I feel so bad for my poor mom!!! 💔💔💔 Yes she was there because she was dying at any moment but she was not treated with dignity. I will forever regret taking her there and I will miss my mom forever 💔 but just to let you know the physical therapist, the nurses and some of the CNAs are great. But there are some of them that are horrible and they are understaffed they don't come to take care of the patients in a timely manner! Some of them are mean to the patients/ residents and yell at them!!! 😭😭😭
