My father pays nearly $10,000 per month to live at The Tradition, and the quality of care and services has declined dramatically. Over the past few years, many of the employees who genuinely cared about residents have left or been fired, and it shows. Seems like they are trying to push out the only sincere people they have left. Residents are constantly being charged extra fees and nickel-and-dimed despite the enormous amount they already pay. For 10k a month I don't think my father should be charged a fee to have a subpar meal from the dining room delivered to his room when he's not feeling…
For 10k a month I don't think my father should be charged a fee to have a subpar meal from the dining room delivered to his room when he's not feeling well. I mean come on!!! One of the most frustrating examples is the condition of the facilities. For a community charging residents thousands of dollars every month, basic amenities like working laundry equipment should not be an issue. I've also witnessed staff entering residents' rooms and handling personal belongings in ways that made families uncomfortable. Items have reportedly gone missing, and concerns raised by residents and families often seem to go unresolved. The people living here are elderly and deserve dignity, respect, safety, and properly maintained facilities. Families trust this community with their loved ones and pay a premium price for that trust. Before committing to this facility, I would strongly encourage families to spend time talking with current residents and their families about their experiences. What's advertised and what's actually being delivered can be very different. I will be looking at other options for my father but wanted to warn others before thinking about this place as an option for their loved ones.
Place is ok for residents but they accept anyone as long as they got the money but treat their care partners like garbage. Short staffed all the time. They don’t allow the care partners to park onsite. They make them walk across a busy street.
The staff are amazing, God bless them.
My mom is in The Tradition-Prestonwood Assisted Living & Memory Care. The staff is great. The aesthetics of the whole building are great. The food is really good and has a great variety. The common area is beautiful. It's like a beautiful home that's updated. It certainly has the feeling that you're going into a beautiful home and not into convalescent living. The lighting is beautiful and everything's gorgeous. I think with most places, though, you have to be there. You have to be an advocate for your parents or whoever's living there and make sure that they're doing what they say that they're doing. For us, there was a little bit of an adjustment period. We moved her in and it took a while for us to get adjusted to her schedule and make sure they were doing what they said they were doing. When I go there, I stay with her so I know when they don't come in when they say they would. But it's great now. We just had a run-in with them a couple of months ago where we had to sit down with everyone. That's where you finally realize who is the advocate for your parents and who's an advocate for the institution. When your aging parent has dementia, you don't know what happens there. My mom can't communicate with me the things that happened or didn't happen. But when I'm there, I know things that don't happen that should be happening. I wish that there was a way of getting feedback from them instead of just calling them and asking them. I wish there was a type of weekly assessment or write-up of what activities my mom did, almost like a child. I hate to say it that way, but I wish there was more of that. With the money that we're paying, it seems like they should be able to take that time to communicate with us things like how my mom is doing, and what she is doing. They wrote it down and they have it on the computer whenever they go into my mom's room and give her medicine, but it would just be nicer to have a follow-through. And we've asked for it, but it just hasn't been consistent. It'll happen and then we won't get it again. That's just a little bit of constructive criticism for them.
My husband was on the Memory Care floor of the Tradition for 2 months. He decidedly did not want to be there. Two individuals in particular eased his troubled state while he was there…. Bernadette, a care partner, listened attentively to every concern he had and always responded in a helpful way. She is quiet and gentle and caring. She made being in Memory Care more bearable for my husband. Judy, a nurse, was another presence on the 4th floor who eased my husband’s anxieties in his unsettled state. She was always cheerful, smiling, and laughed easily. She brightened every room she went into. These two ladies impressed my family with their kindness, their appealing personalities, and their genuinely caring manner.
The Tradition is a warm and friendly place. Four years ago, after my mother passed, my father moved into The Tradition on Prestonwood, so that he would not get lonely. The beautiful décor, excellent meals, and friendly company of fellow residents gave him a wonderful home for his last years. I appreciate everything that the staff does to help, the lovely events that are held, and all of the available extra activities and outings. I would highly recommend The Tradition to anyone looking for a home for their aging friend or relative.
My wife and I are pleased with the services provided by The Tradition. The management consists of trained and experienced professionals. The food service is excellent. Food quality is consistently very good. Activities and entertainemnt are exceptional.
A truly wonderful place to live. The people are friendly and the staff always ready to assist with your needs. Transportation is a blessing. The food and activities are very good. The right choice at the right time.
