But at least once a week they will organize a meal that everyone pays for their own. But this is senior living and the cottages are really nice. We have nice kitchens to prepare our own meals which I prefer. I was a little hesitant about the monthly charge at first until I figured out how much it was costing me to live in my house. We have maintenance whenever we need it. The only thing that I have had to request is the batteries on my smoke alarms needed to be changed and the water…

I was a little hesitant about the monthly charge at first until I figured out how much it was costing me to live in my house. We have maintenance whenever we need it. The only thing that I have had to request is the batteries on my smoke alarms needed to be changed and the water dispenser on my refrigerator needed to be repaired. The cottages are less than 3 years old and very nice. We are also within walking distance to grocery store. Restaurants, nail and hair salons and also an emergency medical clinic and doctor's offices. There are 3 banks within walking distance. I really enjoyed the convenience. One other thing I did not mention. We have an activity director and there is something at the clubhouse every day except weekends. You can pick and choose what activities you want to participate in.
They are so helpful! [Name removed] and [name removed] are so amazing! They dedicate so much time to the facility and it’s occupants. They always have something going on as for activities. My parents have not been to any of activities as of yet, but have a good schedule of things monthly.
I am really pleased with Emerald Cottsges. The cottages are well designed and have a lot of room. There are activities that you can participate in if you like. The cottage provides lunch once a month but there are opportunities to purchase lunch and eat at the clubhouse with the other residents at least once a week.

Emerald Cottages of New Braunfels is strictly independent living. There was no food. The tour was excellent. I really liked it. They're new. You get a lot more room. What they offer is like 1,000 square feet versus plans that are 600 or 700 or even 900. They're a very spacious and very well planned out community, and they're more affordable, but they don't offer assisted living. They don't have that transition option. The staff was very good.
Every unit has a full kitchen, so no food/dining available. They do have 1 luncheon provided for all residents if interested. And they do have a potluck dinner occasionally for all to contribute. Many activities to pick from as well. We picked this community, because mom didn't want to live in an apartment type community. These cottages are perfect, all level, has a covered porch, attached garage, nice community to walk in, and has a clubhouse with pool. They are close to the grocery store, medical offices, and family members.
It is really nice apartments. The rooms are large. It's really clean and comfortable. It's very pleasant. Nice surroundings. The people are friendly and they offer several activities, if you're interested. I picked this community because it was the first place that I looked at.
Everybody who works and lives at Emerald Cottages has been awesome, our mother loves is there and we truly love it. Right now the activities are not quite happening only because the community center is not finished. Once that is finished we are hoping the activities pick up. They do not have meals currently since it is independent living but once a month they take the residents out to a restaurant where they can all eat and socialize together. Once the club house is finished they would hold the lunch-ins there. Compared to other cottages in the area the value for the money is good and reasonable and we would recommend the community to others based on the experience we have had so far.
This has been an outstanding community for us. If there are any questions, [name removed] has been there to answer all of our questions. All the utilities, cable, and room for the monthly rate.
