I’ve been going to the Clairmont for probably eight years now. I love how engaged the residents are and how they have the big cornhole tournament with The Continental Retirement. They’re outdoor space is sprawling and bright. Many of the residents have dogs who light up the room. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced independent living community, swing by and say hello to Francine for me. She and David are a pleasure to work with.
While staff and residents are pretty awesome, the subcontractors for work on the apartment have been pretty awful. The shower redo was not properly done with exposed ceramic surfaces instead of using Schluter trim or bullnose tiles. In the process of either the tile work or the repainting, the floor was heavily scratched. It is not a good look and we do not want rugs in the room due to mobility issues. The Spectrum system is not hooked up properly so does not work for the TV. The air conditioner is making a very loud and obnoxious noise after servicemen worked on something with the system. It…

It did not make this noise when we checked out the apartment. The painters did not use drop cloths apparently as paint spatters were all over the floor. Fortunately the spots would pry off fairly easily. The dining room did not have clean utensils for the second setting of lunch. The utensils they did supply were about the cheapest , thin, and hard to use I have ever seen. So we sat and looked at our salads for about 8 mins until new utensils could be found. All in all a sub-par start.
My mother just moved in and has been very happy with Francine and the team. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. She is excited about the opportunity to make some new friends and have some activities to join in on. The food is very tasty and we have enjoyed each time we’ve eaten there. There are a number of enclosed courtyards as well as nice walking access around the property. I’m very happy for my mother and it gives me peace of mind to know she’s in a good community.
If you want a genuinely happy place to live, this community is it! Every resident is smiling, enjoying the company of the other residents and seem to be very positively impacted by the team. We came during a meal time and when I say it smelled amazing, that is an understatement. Having all apartments on a single floor with ample outside shade and space to walk was an added bonus. There really is a lot of heart in this community.
It is very much like a family there. The staff and residents actually know each other and care for each other. My mom was allowed to put up a nice fence to create a "backyard for her and her dog. She is very happy there!
They struggle with transportation and food services. It does have a good family feel.
My mom stayed at The Clairmont for just over three years until her health started degrading. But she loved her time at The Clairmont so much! The staff, the community atmosphere and the overall welcoming of this place made it a wonderful experience. My mom, my husband and I highly recommend The Clairmont to any senior looking for a wonderful community to join.
