Elevators had to be replaced this year… so residents who use walkers or wheelchairs are confined to their upper level floors, since they don’t have Maintanence elevators. All they can do is assist a resident up/down flights of stairs with who ever is available. These are senior living apartments that require residents to independently get their own groceries and are independent living. A letter posted said it would take 7 weeks to fix their floor’s elevator! They would bring up their meals from dining area down stairs. Ridiculous and they should provide a reduction in their rent on the weeks…

I have partnered with this community for many years and I hear great things about the Continental from many of the residents and families that I work with! Every time I walk in, it is warm and welcoming. Veronica is so friendly and great to work with as well!

Beware: Never sign an agreement before visiting and seeing the facility! We never occupied apartment and yet lost approximately $13,000 As we were living in Virginia, we arranged everything by phone as they said that they were going to remodel and upgrade an apartment that has been vacant. A deposit was required from our checking account (which we had provided upon opening an account with The Continental). However, when we arrived to Austin and visited the facility, we found the facility to be with extreme mold, the location terrible (ie. It was surrounded by 3 high traffic and noisy highways), and our apartment was not as it had been described. We immediately informed the management that we had decided that due to our age and health, we would not be able to occupy the apartment. However, the manager said that we would be responsible for 3 months of rent and it was automatically withdrawn from our checking account. So BEWARE!!!

Having lived at this place almost a year after moving here from NYC, I would have to say it offers everything I was looking for and more. Tasty meals cooked by a professional chef, caring and compassionate staff, calendar full of social activities with steady stream of live music, in which residents are encouraged to participate to the level of their interest and abilities. The location of this spot is super convenient being 15min walk from Central Market Westgate and Flow Yoga, one of the best yoga studios in town! The main drawback to living in a retirement community like this one is that you make friends with people who sometimes don’t stick around!

This place is infested with bed bugs in the rooms, dining room, the hall ways please don’t move your family in here. It’s infested I feel bad for the employees.

This is one of those hidden Austin treasures. It has large beautiful trees and a warm welcoming interior. I always see the residents hanging out and talking. It looks like they’re having fun. I remember one time I observed their executive director Everett be so kind and gentle with one of the residents. I have gone to a lot of buildings, for many years and had never seen something like that before. Executive directors generally stay in their offices. I can really only speak to the Continental from the perspective of a home health clinician. The residents seem active and engaged. Also, the location is pretty hard to beat and Veronica is a pleasure to work with.

Very friendly and helpful with getting Dorothy settle in her new home.

As a local Senior Provider, this community is stunning. Tucked away so its quiet, the staff are extremely helpful and attentive. Pet friendly and the best part is that their restaurant has meals 24hrs, so if a resident is hungry, there is always a meal provided. Don't forget to see their premium apartments, what a beautiful space!
