The Jasper of Mansfield

Our experience with The Jasper at Mansfield has unfortunately been disappointing. While the facility itself is clean and well maintained, we have concerns about the overall level of care and attention being provided to the residents. The high staff turnover has been difficult, and we feel that the residents’ individual needs and wants are not always being fully met. We would also like to see more activities offered. Something as simple as asking residents what they would enjoy—such as a puzzle club, card games, dominoes, or a book club—could make a meaningful difference in their quality of life and give them more opportunities for social interaction. Our biggest concern, however, is the response time when a resident uses their emergency pendant. We have experienced wait times of well over 30 minutes for someone to respond. When a resident has fallen, being left on the floor for that length of time is extremely concerning. It can leave them frightened, frustrated, and struggling to reach furniture to help themselves up. Even more concerning, this can cause a resident to lose confidence in the emergency pendant and become reluctant to use it when they need help. One more concern is that if a resident isn't feeling there best for meal time in the dining hall and would like to have there meal delivered to their room there is a $10 charge for every meal that is delivered. That is more expensive the Uber eats. We understand that assisted living is challenging and that staff can be stretched thin. However, timely response to an emergency call should be a priority, especially when a resident has fallen. We appreciate that The Jasper is clean and well kept, but cleanliness alone does not make up for concerns regarding staffing consistency, resident engagement, and especially timely responses to residents needing assistance. We sincerely hope these issues are taken seriously and addressed, because the residents deserve better
